Q: What type of work is available?
A: A majority of the available positions are working as an at-sea processor. Key personnel positions are also available.
See job descriptions.
Q: Where is the job site located?
A: Most of the jobs available are working on board catcher/processors in the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands and the Gulf of Alaska.
Q: Are room and board free? What about transportation cost?
A: For crew members who meet the terms of their employment contracts, room and board are provided at no charge, as
well as transportation to and from the fishing grounds.
Q: How many hours a day should I expect to work?
A: Crew members generally work sixteen hours on and eight hours off, seven days a week for three months or longer.
Q: How long is the length of the contract?
A: The length of the employment contract varies but is usually 90 to 100 days. Employment can be abandoned anytime after signing a contract, but expect to lose some potential benefits (such as room and board coverage, return transportation reimbursement, and may effect your re-hire status with the company).
Q: What if I don't have any previous experience in this type of work?
A: Previous processing experience is not required but you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- You must be available to work the full contract period.
- You must be physically able to stand and work long hours and move heavy objects continually for up to sixteen hours a day.
- You must be able to work, live and get along well with a diverse group of people.
- You must be ready for hard work, have a positive attitude and not be a chronic complainer.
- You must be able follow directions and abide by safety rules.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must be eligible to work in the United States.
Q. How much can I earn?
A. Payment is a share of catch with a guaranteed monthly minimum. This works to the benefit of our employees.
Our wheelhouse team and most crew members are very experienced, plus much of our processing is automated;
therefore, employees are able to earn more than if they received a flat wage or salary.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Apply on line, by mail (print an application) or in person at our Seattle office.
Q: What about seasickness? Is that a problem?
A: If you generally have a problem with motion sickness, then you may experience seasickness. Many crew members
feel a little queasy the first day or two, but for most people the problem goes away as their bodies adjust.
Q. What kind of processing do you do?
A. Round and headed and gutted (H&G).
