How to Be Successful Working Aboard One of Our Vessels
Working aboard an at-sea fish processor in Alaska takes dedication and commitment. Work conditions are cold, wet and monotonous. The job requires physical endurance, repetitive lifting, agility, team work and self-discipline. Commitment to quality as well as a commitment to your fellow crew members is expected each day you are working on the vessel. Vessels work on a crew-share system (a percentage of the catch is given to the crews) so it is important that everyone contribute 100% in order to maximize productivity.
As a crew member you will be equipped with modern life-saving gear and equipment. All crew members receive mandatory safety training to ensure employees are able to respond to or avert emergencies.

Your Life on Board the Vessel
On board, crew members are assigned a bunk and limited storage facilities (usually a drawer and a locker). Employees must provide clothing suitable for factory work including raingear and boots along with personal items such as a sleeping bag, towels, wash clothe and toiletries. Each crew member's laundry is done once a week. Most rooms have four bunks (some have more, some have less). Cameras are not allowed on board the vessel.
Zero Tolerance Policy
No drugs or alcohol are allowed on board any of our vessels. Anyone under the influence of drugs will be terminated immediately. Crew members are required to participate in a random drug test program while aboard our vessels. Occasionally, the crew is granted town time to do shopping or use the telephone. Anyone returning to the vessel under the influence of alcohol will be terminated without warning.
United States Seafoods is an equal opportunity employer.
